Customer Reviews of Y Tu Mama Tambien (And Your Mother Too) - Unrated Edition
Intellectual Hipster Hot Date Movie This is a great one to take to the film club meeting at the dorm to make them all think you are cool and smart and sexy.
'Y Tu Mama Tambien' is a stylistic triumph from first moment to last.
This film is frank and honest with the viewer from the opening to the close. "Y Tu Mama Tambien" totally focuses on the whole universe around sex. Julio (Gael García Bernal) and Tenoch (Diego Luna) really think they have it all figured out but Luisa ( Maribel Verdu) really shows them the ways on how to truly appreciate a woman sexually. It undoubtedly revolve around sexuality that is quite perverse. It shows male behavior as it coincides with who he has sex with and how he pleases himself. Luisa, however, wants to teach them about how to treat women in a way that is more intimate.

>I will say that this film really raised my eyebrows. I don't come across a film very often that really understands the norms and peculiarity of male subjects like this film does. While the full frontal nudity and unashamed sexual acts performed on screen may be disturbing to an American audience, Mexican cinema seems to embrace sexuality with open arms. While they do not leave anything to the imagination, the sex scenes throughout are beautifully orchestrated. These scenes absorb the magnificence of sexual attraction and the inhibition that comes along with this temptation.

>There are of course other layers to this film. It is an odyssey (or road trip) through Mexico and you see the signs of a badly impoverished and wildly policed environment. The film really displays the growth of the young men as well as the complex sexuality and maturity of a woman who wants to show Julio and Tenoch ways to better themselves toward the opposite sex. Maribel Verdu is excellent as the complex woman who truly comes to terms with who she is and wants to be. The film has a surprising element between the two teens that I never saw coming.

> Feel their pleasure and feel their pain. "Y Tu Mama Tambien" is one of those rare, character-driven gems that definitely works on many levels that's truly worth having.

boys will be boys? Give me a break.
I don't typically review movies here, but I thought this one would be worth the time. I see things said of this picture such as brilliant, realistic, an accurate portrayal of coming of age, etc. Let me first say this: If you wish to NOT see graphic group male masturbation, please take my advice and avoid this movie.

>If, on the other hand, you live in fantasy land and think all teenage boys smoke, drink, get high and do drugs virtually every day (as well as masturbate with buddies at the swimming pool), then perhaps this movie is an accurate depiction of your world or what you think the world of 18-year olds embodies. Let me say this: take comfort in the fact that despite what many of these reviews say, most teenage boys do not behave in this manner. As far as I'm concerned I was no teenage angel, however I can aver that neither I nor anyone of my acquaintance either stayed stoned in one form or another 24/7, nor did they have casual sex with beautiful cousins (by marriage) with augmented breasts.

>These comments aside, the movie was mildly entertaining. Its inane storyline was cloaked in a pseudo-intellectual veil giving it a low-budget sleeper type of flare. But randomly interspersed social commentaries does not a masterpiece make. I feel as if this film were American, it would receive more of an American Pie treatment from reviewers.

>So like I said, it was somewhat entertaining, especially if you are fluent in Spanish, and I assume even moreso if you feel that the aforemetioned behavior is representative of young men.
