The Toshiba Satellite P35-S611 is the ultimate gaming machine, loaded with the latest sight and sound technology plus a 17" diagonal Wide-screen display for the best in graphics. Heats up shuts down , NEEDS MAINTENANCE
I have had this computer for around 3 years now. <
>I use it and rely on it. <
>a year ago I had shut down problems begin and since I heard the fans go on and stay on I knew it was a cooling issue. <
>I put the rear up on two staplers being careful not to cover the fan holes and theat made it last the past year quite well. <
>Then in the past 2 weeks I couldnt keep this thing on ten minutes if I put it in the freezer. (that is a joke I did not put it in the freezer) <
>So I googled "toshiba p35 s611 shuts off" <
>I bought those laptop attachmentments with the fans built in to no avail. <
>I ended up here and read the few people who fixed their machine by vacuum or blowing out system. <
>I read I shouldnt take it apart,... <
>I tried to take it apart and after removing all the screws I could not get it apart anyhow unless I wanted to risk busting something. <
>So I took the advice from here and plugged in the air compressor in the garage hook up the blower tool on the air hose and tried to blow out what ever is in there. (between the fans and fins only) <
>I put the air hose to the fan portions and blew out what I could then after i aired it the other direction... fins towards the fans. I had crud comming out both ends. <
>YES I did see a bunch of dust fly out ( and this is right after the vacuum treatment ) <
>I air hosed the laptop for about 5 minutes til i knew there could be nothing left in it. <

Love - Hate relationship with this computer
Out of the box this computer was awsome. It was my favorite computer to date until the dreaded overheating began. By now you all know how this is, so I won't try to explain the problem. And I'm also guessing no one is buying this computer anymore so I just want to advice customers not to buy ANY Toshiba products. Their products suck and their customer service sucks even more. Save yourself a lot of anger and frustration and buy another brand, I'm going for a Mac next time.

Few problems, but still meets my needs.
Overall this laptop is meeting all my needs as a regular everyday user. If you want it for mobility, it's only good for taking it to another place and plugging it in, forget about taking it on a train or in a car, the battery life is short. It needs to be on a flat surface so you don't block the fans underneath, forget about putting it on your lap. I had this computer for over a year now and had the same shut down problems like mentioned by other users until I blew all the dust out from the heat grid and fans and now I can run any program on it and play all my games. It makes a great multi-media center and I can do everything from burning CD's to watching movies in awesome quality. The sound on this thing is awesome! It's suprising for such small speakers. The screen is huge and wide which makes it perfect for watching widescreen movies. Overall I'm pretty happy with this computer, I use it alot and put demanding programs on it and have very minor problems with it. One thing though, I would recommend upgrading the ram, as the 512 MB is not enough, luckily you can upgrade this machine to 2 GB of ram! If you have the cash, like the semi-portability and want a awesome media center, I would go for it!
